The Apple Watch Series 6 Singapore
The just-launched Apple Watch Series 6 is the best Apple Watch ever bar-none. Although the difference between this generation and the Series 5 is subtle, it makes a big enough difference to merit an upgrade, if you don’t mind the cost.
While Apple Watches started out as a convenient tool that reinvented the wristwatch - telling time, keeping you notified, and tracking a few metrics - they’ve evolved into something much more, particularly in terms of personal health.
The latest smartwatches help with all kinds of essential health metrics and functions, and the Apple Watch Series 6 takes it a step further with a brand-new sensor that accurately measures blood oxygen level. Read more about blood oxygen levels and what it means for your health here.
The new Apple Watch Series 6 is an all-in-one personal health station: apart from the new blood oxygen sensor, this smartwatch also works like a portable ECG that you can take with you anywhere. There’s also the new Sleep app that provides several new features and a new interface to help you better manage your sleep.
Of course, one of the best benefits to getting the Apple Watch is its seamless integration to the best-in-class Apple Health app (and the brand-new Apple Fitness+ service), which offers a multitude of features, functions, and metrics to help you stay on top of your health. The metrics this smartwatch takes is accurate and works in real-time, so you can get accurate readings of everything from your heart rate to your step count, and even to elevation, and more, especially with the addition of Ultra Wideband tech. Granted, we saw some of these features on the Apple Watch Series 5, too, but everything’s a little brighter, and a little snappier, too.
Retailing at a base price of USD399 (S$599), the Apple Watch Series 6 costs the same as the Apple Watch Series 5 when it came out, and is a great buy that comes in dozens of different colors and combinations. You can get it in two sizes depending on your preferred style - 40mm or 44mm.
For the watch casing, you can choose between several colors of Aluminum (Gold, Silver, Blue, Space Gray, and Red), Stainless Steel (Graphite, Gold, Silver), and Titanium (Space Black, Titanium). You also have plenty of band options, including multiple colors of Sports Bands, Solo Loops, Braided Solo Loops, Sports Loops, Leather, and Stainless Steel.

The Apple Watch Series 5 Singapore

Last year, the Apple Watch Series 5 dominated the smartwatch market, and for obvious reasons. One of the biggest draws to the Series 5 was the stunning always-on display that made it not only one of the most beautiful smartwatches ever, but also one of the most useful and easy-to-use.
The next-gen Apple Series 6 took that award-winning Series 5 formula, and made it just a little bit better in a lot of aspects, but that doesn’t change the fact that the Apple Watch Series 5 is still one of the best smartwatches you can buy. Plus, now that it’s a last-gen model, we can all expect the price to go down.
The Apple Watch Series 5 is almost as good as the Series 6, and despite all of the subtle improvements and enhancements on the latest-gen Apple Watch, the Series 5 still holds its own as a top contender for the best smartwatch money can buy. You’ll be missing out on the brand-new sensor on the Series 6 (so no blood oxygen metrics), but everything else - from fitness and sleep, to seamless Apple ecosystem integration, to stellar design language and functionality - is still nearly as good on the Series 5 as it is on the latest gen.
If you’re a proud owner of the Apple Watch Series 5 and are considering an upgrade, we definitely recommend it. You can even use the Apple Trade In Program so you can trade-in your Series 5 and get a huge discount towards your next Apple purchase. The difference is subtle, but it’s there, so if you want only the best for your smartwatch needs, that’s probably the best way to get the most value. However, if you’re looking to buy a Series 5, it’s definitely a top-tier choice, with the added benefit of it costing significantly lower than original market price (especially if you know where to find the best deals) thanks to the release of the Apple Watch Series 6.
The Apple Watch Series 5 retailed at the USD399 (S$599) when it launched, but the Apple stores is effectively discontinuing since it’s getting replaced by the equally-priced, but a little more feature-rich, Apple Watch Series 6, but we’re sure you’ll find some great deals on popular retail platforms like Shopee and Qoo10.

The Apple Watch SE Singapore
For the more budget-conscious tech connoisseur, Apple has been releasing great, cheaper alternatives to their pricey flagships. First, we got the newly-revamped iPhone SE, and now we’re getting the Apple Watch SE to make Apple smartwatch technology more accessible to all. Despite the lower price, the Apple Watch SE is feature-packed and can hold its own even against other, pricier smartwatches.
Coming it at just $279 (S$419) the Apple Watch SE is significantly cheaper than the flagship Series 6, but there’s still so much it does better than almost any other smartwatch out there. First of all, it’s a great cheaper option if you want a smartwatch that integrates seamlessly with all of your Apple devices. Second, it still offers great features and functionality, just without the super-fancy gizmos that typically kick the price up in more expensive products.
Here are the main drawbacks:
1) you’re not getting an always-on display and
2) you’re getting a basic sensor that can do almost everything the Series 6 can do, except for a few cutting-edge features. Unless the always-on display is a must-have for you, and unless it’s absolutely essential that you have a portable ECG device that just so happens to also be able to measure your blood oxygen, then the Apple Watch SE is going to be the best option for you, and the lightest on your wallet.
